Allen Hill – All Over the Map
Local musician, entertainer and booking agent Allen Hill decided to embark on a project he had never done before: a solo project. Allen brought in many of the great musicians he knows around town for a collection of songs aptly named, “All Over the Map.” Allen and I discussed the feeling he wanted from the recorded and we decided that the best approach for the energy would be to record as much live as possible. The record has an awesome high energy live feel and was great to be a part of.

The Tc5 – Four Your Love
The Tc5 (Texas City 5) initially began their Beebe Gunn Studio recording journey at the old location of the studio laying down drums, bass, and rhythm guitars simultaneously in the somewhat cramped confines of the old studio. Several months later (and after the move to the current location) they finally came back to record lead guitar parts, vocals and do some general clean up of the tracks, eventually settling on the four performances they felt showcased the sound and feel of the band.
I went to work mixing and then the bandleader Tom and I sorted through some of the takes and got the best combination of takes resulting in a high energy raw rock ‘n roll performance that captures the live energy of the band in a four song EP “Four Your Love.”

Polish Pete & the Polka, I Hardly Know Her Band – The Altuve Polka
Written by super Astros fan Polish Pete in the run up to the Astros World Series Championship in 2017, The Altuve Polka was picked up by several news outlets and was a viral sensation garnering almost half a million views in a couple of weeks. The follow-up, “I Love Those Houston Astros” fared nearly as well. Polish Pete completed a full length record in 2018 entitled “Roll Out the Polka Party” which was written up in several polka news outlets. Recorded live in the studio, the Polish Pete recordings are raw and full of energy.
Los Vertigos – Rock ‘n Soul Salvation
Los Vertigos have been around Houston for many years with several different lineups as a party band, but having solidified a lineup in the last few years theyare finlly bringing their versions of rock and soul classics to the stages of Houston and to the airwaves. “Rock ‘N Roll Salvation” is a five song EP featuring the versatility of the band and the vocal prowess of the Ross brothers. They’ve been getting airplay on Underground Garage on SiriusXM and have been energizing audiences everywhere they play.
Holden Rushing – Want For Nothing
Holden Rushing has performed in several bands over many years in Houston, Memphis, Nashville, LA, and New York, most notably as the lead singer of Indie Rock/alt country band The Small Sounds. In his first foray as a solo artists he tapped the resources of literally dozens of his musical friends to create an album that is diverse in style but cohesive in its feel. Want For Nothing took a few years to record being probably the most piecemeal project I’ve ever done, and as the songs had never been played by a band before, all of the song development happened in the studio. I played several instruments and Holden and I worked out arrangements sometimes on the fly. In a few cases songs were re-recorded altogether. -Paul
Thrill – Drinking From the Primordial Soup
Their first full-length CD, “Drinking from the Primordial Soup,” includes nine original songs, plus an unforgettable cover of the Dead Boys’ “Sonic Reducer.” Thrill delivers a power punk set of songs to keep the mosh pit thumping. Guitarist Jake Smith leads the charge with dominant force, backed by co-vocalist and drummer Evan Escalante driving the beat, and bassist Eric Vuong completing the sound. They’ve opened for several major punk touring acts despite not even being of legal drinking age.
Sunday Morning Detox
Sunday Morning Detox is a progressive rock band of college age musicians who originally met in a “School of Rock.” Guitarist Matt Catalano and drummer Conner Coleman arrange most of the music using multiple time signatures and complex harmonic structures. Lead Singer Maggie Delaney’s powerful vocals carry the listener through the chaotic songscapes. Mason Coleman’s steady rhythm guitar and key playing along with Dave Garcia’s solid bass hold the band together. The mature lyrics and musical complexity belie the young age of the band members.
